Ref(short for Referee)

Updated: Feb 23, 2021

Update - 2/23/20

Ref is doing better. Her labs came back with high liver levels. She has been transferred to Lexi's Kitty Corner Inc. For one to one care. Check out her Facebook page for more updates.

Another rescue reached out to me last week regarding an older Lab Retriever mix female dog failing the shelter system and did not have much time left. her picture pulled at their heart. Within 2 hours of being euthanized I reached out to an out of county Animal Services and was approved as a partner within minutes. Paperwork was sent and the other rescue transported her here. She is overcoming some health issues; obesity, pain in lower back, inflammation, low appetite, bad eyesight and pressure sores on joints and foot. Despite this I have discovered she problem solves and has knowledge of quite a bit of vocabulary. She is not vocal at this point. She can be both patient and inpatient and she can stand her ground silently. At this point she completely ignores other dogs and cats. She would a great ambassador and emotional therapy pet at some point. The Animal Services that she came from has no history as she was found as a stray. I have to give Kudos to them for caring for her. They did a great job with resources available. She lost around 6 pounds in 2 days and incontenance has decreased. She is an old girl between 8 to 10 years old. A local vet here gave her a depo shot and we are waiting for her labwork.

She is such a sweet soul.
